Es Vedra pillow, Majestic and proud she Stands, ruling the seas, protecting and sometimes threatening boats and fishermen during storms, surrounded by many myths, as my Father Brian Pollard<\/a> portraited in his film “Nacer y Morir en Ibiza”<\/a>that was filmed in 1977, recovering and showing the customs of our beautiful Island and its ancestral rituals & traditions, this small chunky rock in the mediterranean has had many stories, Magnetism “triangle of silence”, Ovni docking Station, home to a Pious Hermit that used to stay for days on end to be close to God, wild Goats, sea monsters, spiritual energies, all these have made Es Vedra & Es Vedranell a place of cult over the years especially since the 60′ when the Hippies made it almost a place of pilgrimage to sit and watch the sunsets across the bay of Cala D’hort or sitting on the cliff under the watchful eye of the “Torre d’es Savinar” also known colloquially as “pirate Tower”.<\/p>\n\n

Whether or not you decide to embrace one of the myths, there is no denying the beauty of it’s shear walls towering out of the sea, One of the best sunsets on the Island, sometimes you can even see the Motg\u00f3 mountain range on the Alicante mainland on a clear day, It also has very deep waters surrounding both Islands great for deep sea diving home to numerous underwater species, the deep water also causes rare currents that can help a ship out in a storm or make a shipwreck in a few gusts of wind, In the Ibicenco Folklore they used to say there was a hungry giant living between EsVedra and Es Vedranell, so fishermen tried not to spend much time between the Islands.<\/p>\n\n

This Pillow was one of my first designs. For me it represents a childhood moment, sailing back home after a long weekend playing with friends on the Formentera or Espalmador beaches. looking at how Es Vedra sits proud on the mediterranean horizon\u2026 for me it is a peaceful moment, normally cuddled up in mum’s arms or standing with dad while he chatted to whoever was at the helm.<\/p>\n\n
