Peace pillow is full of details of the lush underwater life Ibiza has around its shores, jellyfish, sea urchins, starfish, lighthouses.
This particular design is inspired by Portinax* (north of the Island), a quaint seaside village originally home to hardworking fishermen has a series of small coves with sandy beaches that lay between cliffs all ruled by the The Punta des Moscarter lighthouse working since 1978. This stretch of coast is abundant in marine species.
When I started playing with this specific Peace design my mind kept thinking of the peaceful serenity of snorkeling in Mediterranean turquoise waters. How floating in tranquil sea, looking at hundreds of shiny fish dance around rocks and Posidonia peaking in and out of sunlit seaweed, nothing is quite as peaceful as a long summer day at the beach rolling in sand and dipping in the salty waters waiting for the sun to set. .
I know the Peace symbol was originally designed by Gerald Herbert** towards the end of the 1950’s to symbolize the protest for Nuclear Disarmament and later became the International peace symbol, this is why saving our environment by keeping our countries in peace seems to me a natural fusion between our peaceful memories and protesting to save the life we are lucky to now have.

**Gerald Herbert Holtom Holtom was a British artist and designer. In 1958, he designed the Nuclear Disarmament (ND) logo, which was adopted the same year by the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), and later became an international peace symbol.
